biography
Fariz Kovalchuk is a self-taught artist. Born and raised in the former Soviet Union, and later in Azerbaijan and Ukraine, he moved to Canada in 2008. Since then, Fariz has exhibited his work in Toronto. He was selected to participate in juried exhibitions showcased at the institutions like the Art Gallery of Ontario. Recently, he also curated group shows at Bezpala Brown Gallery.
Fariz focuses on a variety of themes including dynamics of nature and environment, understanding of human nature and psychology, philosophy and anthropology. His style and technique varies since he does not believe nor follows consistency in creativity, rather he strives to constantly experiment, explore and break new grounds.
Current interest areas for the artist include relationships between self-empowerment and creativity, identity and label-free society, norms of beauty and reality of individual perceptions.
